Maripi Tuatini
Maripi Tuatini is about putting foundations in place for this future leadership. This kaupapa is designed to deliver cultural training and knowledge that is specific to Ngā Wairiki and Ngāti Apa, as well as general social, financial and environmental experiences and skills to open young minds to their potential. Another focus is support and encouragement for participants to succeed in education. Highly skilled and educated members who are strong in their cultural identity as Ngā Wairiki and Ngāti Apa have a pivotal role to play in our future, and Maripi Tuatini exists to help address this particular need.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This is a five year programme where each year group keeps building on the year previous.
As participants progress throughout the programme access to further opportunities through electives will become available.
Each year group will be guided by an Iwi Graduate Profile, the profile sets out the expectations of their knowledge to be gained through the various workshops;
- Ngā Wairikitanga – Ngati Apatanga
- Te Ao Maori Domains – Knowledge Transfer
- Future Focus – Succession Planning
- Youth Development – Work Ready Skills
- Resilience & Leadership – Health & Wellbeing
The programme supports Rangatahi learning development whilst at school, each participant will complete a Whanau Education Action Plan that the School, Whanau and Maripi Tuatini Coordination Committee will monitor throughout the year. By agreeing to be on this programme you are giving permission to the Coordinator to have direct access to speak to your School Board, Principal and Teacher.
The programme aims to expose as many of our skilled Uri representing specialised areas to deliver the core activities as programme facilitators. Mentors will be matched with each Rangatahi based on their individual profile to support and guide them throughout their journey with us.
